Hi, I’m Kayla, the founder of Cowtown Crochet.

Cowtown Crochet (lovingly named after my college town’s nickname where this business was first imagined, created, and nurtured) was created from two things that have shaped my life: my love of art and passion for neuroscience. Several years ago, I experienced a traumatic brain injury (TBI), an event that profoundly changed my perspective and inspired my goal of pursuing a career in medicine. Throughout my recovery, I discovered the importance of creativity, resilience, and finding joy in the small things.

What started as a personal creative outlet through crocheting has grown into a mission-driven business. Every handmade piece is crafted with care, with the hope of bringing comfort, happiness, and a little bit of magic into someone’s day. At the same time, I wanted this business to contribute to something larger than myself and support the research that gives hope to millions of individuals and families affected by neurological conditions.

To help make a difference, 25% of every purchase is donated to the American Brain Foundation, a national nonprofit dedicated to advancing the prevention, treatment, and cure of brain diseases and disorders. The foundation funds critical research into conditions including Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, traumatic brain injuries (TBI), brain tumors, stroke, epilepsy, and many other neurological disorders.

For me, this mission is personal. My experience with a TBI showed me firsthand how life-changing neurological injuries and disorders can be not only for patients, but also for their families and loved ones. Through Cowtown Crochet, I hope to combine creativity with purpose, transforming a passion for handmade art into meaningful support for brain research and awareness.
